AQM and Grampian Country Pork approached
Orchid to build a Website and Extranet that would bring
together the Farmer and the Processor. Orchid’s
experience in producing database applications for the
Livestock industry and Orchid’s track record in
web solutions made Orchid the obvious choice.
The Website is designed to provide farmers
with real-time graphs and statistics which relate to
the quality of the product they supply. This has never
been done before and farmers have always had to telephone
and obtain the information verbally, making it difficult
for them to tune their business.

The piginfo website has a ‘back-end’
administration system that allows the data to be loaded daily.
The data is imported and then made instantly available for
graphs and reports. A sophisticated graphing module turns
pages of data into easy-to-read graphs that are generated
on the fly. A password protection system restricts access
to the site.
There are also several pages of online
information that are available to the farmer, once they have
logged in.
Orchid
have produced a system that will provide real benefits to
the way we do business. It is an excellent example of how
the Internet should be used, providing instant information
to a geographically dispersed community.
