Technical Author / Projects Manager – Royston

Are you an experienced Technical Author who would like to take an active role in delivering technical publications projects and growing Orchid Information Systems?

Orchid are interested in approaches from individuals who are currently writing but who would also like to be involved in quoting and managing projects in a Technical Services Agency environment. We see this role as laying the foundation for the development, and possible future succession, of the company. There is no fixed timescale to fill this position – it is more about finding someone who has the right background and will be a good fit for the company. In addition to our office production team, we maintain a list of Technical Communicators, called Orchid People, who are looking for permanent work and/or contract work.

We use Orchid People to locate potential new permanent technical staff members and contractors to work on our in house projects and also to place staff or contractors on site for our clients.

Particularly with experience in the IT, energy. oil and gas, water, marine and the electronics industries.

Desirable skills are DITA, Help Files and packages such as Microsoft Office, InDesign, FrameMaker, AuthorIT and MadCap Flare.

Technical Illustrators / Graphics Operators

Particularly with experience in the IT, oil and gas, water, marine and the electronics industries. Desirable skills are all Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop etc.), AutoCAD, Corel Draw and 3D Studio Max.

Web / Computer Based Training Designers and Developers

Designers with experience in any of the following: Photoshop, 3D Studio Max and Captivate.  Developers with experience in using WordPress, PHP, MySQL, ASP.NET, SQL Server.
